Part-time instructor (astronomy, physics, mathematics) at San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, and Grossmont College, 1975 to 1989.
Full-time professor of physical science and astronomy at San Diego Mesa College, September 1989 to present. Currently serving as chair of the Physical Sciences Department.

TELEVISION
Schad is serving as host and consultant for the TV series "Afoot and Afield in San Diego" (based on his book of nearly the same name), which appears on KPBS-TV, San Diego's PBS affiliate. Schad also co-wrote and is featured in "San Diego Night Sky," which debuted in June 1997 on KPBS-TV.
